An Introduction to DocBike

DocBike is a charity set up over 10 years ago in Dorset by Dr Ian Mew. Halliwell Jones Motorrad in Chester are delighted to host an evening with Dr Mike Hughes.

Cheshire is the latest county to host a DocBike initiative, and the lead is Dr Mike Hughes, who is a Consultant Orthopedic and Major Trauma Surgeon at the regional Major Trauma Centre, he is also a Prehospital Critical Care Doctor at North West Prehospital Critical Care Charity and a MERIT Doctor with North West Ambulance Service. Mike is local, living in Sandiway, Cheshire.

DocBike aim is to fund a response bike to enable Mike to attend motorcycle accidents quickly and to engage with bikers, and educate them to take on extra advanced training with IAM Roadsmart, or RoSPA.

Intinerary for the Evening

Join us for an evening with DocBike

Mike will talk about the mechanics of Trauma, using first hand anecdotal evidence, what happens during trauma to the body.

There will be a short presentation on “ The Science of Being Seen” and a brief synopsis of why they don’t see us – Cassadic Masking.

Mike will then explain what to do if you find yourself “first on scene” and demonstrate safe helmet removal technique and invite everyone to try it themselves under his instruction and guidance.

Timings: Arrival from 6.30pm

Talk starts at 7.00pm

Light refreshments and drinks will be served on the evening.
